Jan 26, 2022, 1pm, Jim Swenson & Louis Rossetto speak on “Rose Care”

The Community Garden Club of Camas Washougals first presentation of 2022 will be “Rose Care” by two longstanding members of the Fort Vancouver Rose Society (FVRS), Louis Rossetto (left) and Jim Swenson(right).

The club meeting begins at 1pm, Jan 26, 2022 with a few formalities followed by the speaker’s presentation beginning around 1:30pm.

BIOS:

Jim Swenson has been a member of FVRS for almost 40 years and was its President in 2001 and 2002.  He has been a Consulting Rosarian for over 20 years and has grown roses for over 50 years in both Texas and Washington state. He reported on new All American Rose Selection (AARS) roses for over 10 years.  Jim currently grows a couple hundred roses in his own yard which includes a variety of modern roses: hybrid teas, grandifloras, floribundas, miniatures, shrub and several climbers.

Louis Rossetto has been a member of the FVRS since 1999 and also is a member of the American Rose Society (ARS).  Louis bought four roses back in 1994 and can’t seem to stop!  He now has over 240 roses in his personal garden and has also planted roses in too many family members’ yards to count – each new great niece, nephew or other celebration calls for a special rose.

Louis has held many offices and chair positions in FVRS including Vice President, President, and Co Rose Show Chairman. He is a Consulting Rosarian and Master Rosarian. As a CR he has presented Rose Care Seminars at many of the local Nurseries and headed our efforts to care for local rose gardens such as Esther Short Rose Garden. Louis has also exhibited roses in local Roses Shows and is happy to tell you about his Queen Trophies.

The most important thing Louis would like to share is that he grows roses and loves every minute he spends in his garden or in helping others to grow roses.
