Garden Club’s Beautification Projects!

The ‘Community Garden Club of Camas Washougal” participates in various beautification projects in the Camas/Washougal area.  Did you know the garden club was established in 1941 and is still very active today with over a 100 members?

Members help prune, water and tend roses and other plants at the Parker’s Landing Historical Park along with other volunteers.  Because some historical artifacts in the park grounds restrict digging, this requires a lot of hand watering and “hose pulling” every summer.  Some of these roses were actually planted many years ago by the garden club.

Members have planted over 7,000 daffodils along the Washougal Waterfront Park and Trail in the last 5 years with more coming this fall!   They make a lovely addition along the Columbia River in spring.

The club has also been helping with selective pruning, fertilizing and watering of the many rhododendrons and azaleas around the downtown Camas post office the last few years.  We’ve discovered from post office customers stopping to chat with us that some of these rhododendrons have been there for over 60 years!  (Their huge root systems attest to that!)

Learn more about us at our Website or Facebook page or drop in at one of our meetings to hear one of our “free to the public” speakers, and if you are interested, join the club.
