Please join the “Community Garden Club of Camas Washougal” Sep 22, 2021 when Janis McBride will speak to us at our general meeting on “Gift Orchid Survival”.
BIO: Janis McBride has been a Clark County WSU Extension Master Gardener since 2017. She currently serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Master Gardener Foundation of Clark County.
Organic vegetable gardening and sustainable landscaping are Janis’ favorite gardening interests and she became interested in orchids purely as an accident. During her career at the County Health Department, she would “plant sit” her co-worker’s orchids because she was lucky enough to have an office with a window. It was there that she researched various techniques to give those orchids the best possible chance of survival.
When she joined the Presenter’s Team with the Master Gardeners, she did not think that anyone would be interested in learning about orchids. Over the last 2 years, she has presented the course at various garden club meetings and gardening events and the popularity of the course has proven her wrong with high attendance rates and interest among gardeners.
MEETINGS take place in the Ballroom, Camas Community Center, 1718 SE 7th Ave., Camas, WA 98607. Club general meetings run from 1pm-3pm. Janis will begin her presentation around 1:30pm.
All Garden Club speaker presentations are free and open to the public. You do not need to be a club member to attend speaker presentations. But, if you wish to join, membership is $12/yr.
Please observe current COVID-19 protocols, including masks. Our speakers are subject to change, but, we try to keep this info up to date!
