“Chrysanthemums for Home & Competition” by Gordon Jackman, Mar 28

Gordon Jackman will be the guest speaker on March 28, 2018, Wednesday afternoon, starting at 1:30pm.

Gordon has had a passion for Dahlias since 1981 when he began learning about and growing them in Portland, OR. He also joined many Dahlia organizations and became a judge in 1991.  Since then, he has judged many competitions and trained others to be judges, as well.

In 2008, Gordon expanded his passion for flowers to include Chrysanthemums (Mums)He joined the Portland Chrysanthemum Society, and then the Vancouver Chrysanthemum Society, since their meeting times meshed better with his working hours. He has since served as a member and President and is the current Vice President of the Vancouver Chrysanthemum Society.

Gordon will talk about different grades of mums for both competition and non-competition. He will talk about thirteen various classes of mums (mum flower forms) and about Cascade hanging pot mums.

Gordon will also bring along some mums as gifts and to sell.  (If time permits he will also talk about Dahlias.)

The meeting room is open by 1pm, Gordon’s talk runs from 1:30-2:15, followed by the club general meeting from 2:15-3pm in the (Old) Camas Community Center, 1718 SE 7th Ave., Camas, WA  98607.

You do NOT need to be a member to attend meetings and listen to speakers!  All are welcome!
